Documentation Requirements by Degree Program
Undergraduate
At Colorado Technical University, no SAT, no GMAT, no GRE, or other standardized assessment is required as part of the admissions process. However, proof of high school graduation (i.e., high school diploma and transcripts) or high school equivalency (i.e., GED) must be submitted to CTU for evaluation before the first day of the second quarter or term in the program of study. Transfer students are also required to submit official college transcripts in order to have previous college-level courses evaluated for transfer credit.1
Graduate
Students must submit official college transcripts verifying completion of an accredited baccalaureate degree program. Official graduate transcripts must also be submitted in order to have transfer students’ previous graduate-level courses evaluated for transfer credit. Transfer credit at the master’s level may be permitted at the discretion of the Academic Affairs and Registrar Evaluation Services Departments. Transfer credit at the doctoral level may be applied to the program at the discretion of the appropriate senior academic official.1 Doctoral program candidates must have earned a 3.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale in their master’s program and must also submit a resume and essay.
Doctor of Management | Doctor of Computer Science
Official transcripts verifying completion of an accredited master’s degree program in a discipline related to the CTU doctoral program concentration for which admission is sought must be submitted in addition to any doctoral course transcripts.
Doctor of Nursing Practice
Applicants must submit official transcripts verifying completion of an accredited Master of Science in Nursing degree program.

Transfer Student FAQs
An official transcript is one that has been received at Colorado Technical University directly from your college or university. It must have your school’s stamped seal, date, Registrar’s signature and arrive to CTU in a sealed envelope. Contact your school’s Registrar for more information.
Upon receipt of official documents and transcripts, college-level course work from accredited colleges or universities is evaluated for transfer credit by a Registrar Evaluation Services Specialist. Transfer credit is not awarded for courses that are remedial by definition of the transferring institution, or equivalent to remedial courses taught through CTU. Transcripts and records presented for evaluation become part of the student’s permanent record. Students wishing to determine the receipt status of official transcripts may contact the Registrar’s Office for additional information.
We understand that it may take significant time to receive transcripts requested from other colleges and universities. Please begin the process of requesting transcripts as early as possible.
If you begin an undergraduate degree program pending the receipt of an official college or university transcript(s), you have until the end of the first quarter or you may be prohibited from further attendance in your degree program, which in turn could result in a grade level change.
Colorado Technical University offers graduate students the opportunity to be conditionally admitted pending receipt of their official transcript verifying completion of an accredited master's degree. Students will have up to the first day of the second quarter or term in the program of study to provide the required documentation. Extension may be granted upon approval from the Registrar’s Office. Upon receipt and review of the official transcript verifying completion of an accredited master's degree, students may be officially admitted to the university as a regular student. Students who are conditionally admitted will incur tuition and fee charges and are financially responsible for all costs of attending the University.
- Official college and military transcripts are evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
- Only courses with a "C" grade or 2.0 or better GPA (undergraduate), or "B" grade or 3.0 or better GPA (graduate/doctoral) will be eligible for transfer credit. No transfer credit will be awarded for courses that were failed, withdrawn, or have not met the transfer credit criteria.
- Only college level and post-secondary degree applicable courses will be eligible for transfer credit. Continuing Education Units are not accepted at CTU as transfer credit, however they may be accepted as Professional Training/Certification credit. A Registrar Evaluation Services Specialist can tell you more.
- Duplication of course transfer is not permitted in any degree program.
- Transfer credit may not be applied for specific courses found in programs with programmatic accreditation or affiliation.
Transfer credit must be applied one session before a student’s course is scheduled in order to exempt the student from taking the course.
- A student must complete a minimum of 25% of the total credit hours for an undergraduate degree program at CTU.
- A student must complete a minimum of 25% of the total credits hours for a Master’s degree program at CTU. Check with the CTU Graduate Programs for residency requirements.
- A student must complete a minimum of 25% of the total credit hours for a Doctoral degree program at CTU. All core and concentration courses may be transferred, but all research and writing courses must be completed at CTU. Check with the CTU Graduate Programs for exceptions.
- Students transferring to CTU under established articulation agreements may transfer in a maximum of 75% of the required program credits in associate or bachelor’s degree programs.
Other Ways To Earn College Credit
Transfer students may be able to save even more time and money by taking advantage of other CTU credit programs that offer the opportunity to earn college credit for life and work experience. CTU Fast Track™ exams,* Experiential Learning Portfolios (ELPs), military experience, work experience, and other relevant life experience may qualify you to earn credit toward your chosen degree program—on top of the college credits you may be able to transfer-in from other accredited post-secondary institutions.1

1 Transfer credit is evaluated on an individual basis. Not all credits are eligible to transfer. See the University Catalog for transfer credit policies.
2 Financial aid is available for those who qualify. University grants or scholarships are based on established criteria as published in the University Catalog and are awarded after verification that the conditions of eligibility have been met.
*The ability to reduce time in school and/or reduce tuition towards the full cost of a degree program depends on the number of CTU Fast Track™ exams successfully passed. Fast Track program credits are non-transferable. Not all programs are eligible for possible 30% reduction in time and money. Courses eligible are subject to change. Students should not rely on potential Fast Track savings or eligibility when making an enrollment decision.
